4 Things You Need This Season

4 Things You Need This Season

November 7, 2017

It’s finally feeling like fall in NYC now, so I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to pack up my summer pieces from my closet and move in this season’s wardrobe.

This season now that I’m still trying to figure out how to dress for my new mom bod, as well as nursing, I’m focusing on investing in only a few key pieces that will have longevity in my wardrobe, but also make my closet feel fresh again.

Below are 4 of my picks for if you’re going to update your wardrobe this season, it would be these few items.

The checked blazer is the street style and blogger favorite in case you haven’t noticed. Some may say it’s fall’s #1 trend. Most of these ladies have been wearing oversized versions, but I opted for a more classic one that’s slightly more fitted because with my new mama curves, I didn’t want something to swallow me up. I also found a matching pant to this blazer so I can mix and match them this season into the next.

Yes, skinny jeans haven’t gone anywhere, but I’ve been putting mine on the back burner for a while and opting for the high waisted mom jean. They’re just so much more flattering with my new curves and the high waist just emphasizes them while concealing my tummy area. Look for a vintage or vintage style with rigid denim, high waisted and straight leg silhouettes. If the leg isn’t cropped, don’t be afraid to cut the hem and leave it frayed. I’m partial to Levi’s because they’re so reasonably priced (these are the “Wedgie” style) but there are so many great new options out there as well. They’re so good that I’ve received so many compliments on them and seemed to have convinced a lot of my mom friends that they need a pair in their life too.

Sock booties. Floral booties. White booties. Sparkly booties. Oh my. How does a fashionista decide this season? This is the season of the statement booties so it’s the easiest way to update your look this season. You can just wear jeans (see above) and a tee, and let your booties do the walking and talking.

Red is THE color of the season in case you haven’t noticed. All you need is a red piece or two like a jacket, bag, hat or shoe that you can mix into your wardrobe and you’ll not only look like you’ve been paying attention to the trends, but you’ll definitely turn heads. I opted for a red (faux) leather jacket and it’s been my go-to way of feeling like I updated my entire wardrobe because I can just throw it over anything I’m wearing.
